Diverse Abilities Swim Lessons

Diverse Abilities Swim Lessons

We are excited at the Swim Advantage to offer customized swim lessons that are designed and developed specifically for children with special needs. These classes will require a parent, caregiver, or someone the child trusts at least 18 years old.

Description of the Class:

Our specialized swim program is designed for children and adults with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other developmental challenges.

  • Participants will explore abilities, develop skills and find the confidence to pursue goals.
  • Skills and techniques covered include water safety, swim float swim for five feet assisted or unassisted, back float, and submerge head under water.

Next Step:

A meeting with a parent or guardian is recommended prior to the first day of class to meet and find out more about them.

  • Parent/caregiver participation is needed in this class.
  • If the child is high functioning and 1:1 care isn’t needed, the parent will need to be ready to enter the water and remain on the pool deck.
  • It’s a 30-minute class, four sessions per month and the fee is $135.00.
  • The class will be offered on Mondays at 6pm and Saturdays at 9:30am

Other Options:

Here are some resources that may be able to provide swim lessons or therapy for your child in the event our group lessons don’t meet your needs. These programs currently use our Swim Advantage facility for their therapy sessions.
